Mat is passionate about helping patients feel understood, cared for, and fully informed about their vision. He believes that clear explanations and compassionate care go hand in hand. Patients appreciate his calm approach, his deep respect for their needs, and the way he makes eye care feel comfortable and empowering!
After graduating with a Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2005, Mat was inducted into the Gold Key Honour Society for his leadership and clinical excellence. He also holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Calgary. Mat takes pride in educating his patients and building long-term trust that lasts across generations.
What he finds most fulfilling is discovering things his patients didn’t know about their eyes and helping them understand their health in a way that leads to better outcomes.
When not at the clinic, Mat enjoys gardening, travelling, spending time with his wife and their dog Winnie and cat Baby, and volunteering with Proud for Prom and Old Friends Canada horse rescue.
